Promthep Cape

On the wonderfully beautiful island of Phuket you can discover so many amazing view points, all with their own uniqueness to them. I have been told that the very best view point in Phuket to see the sunset is at Promthep Cape (or Laem Promthep). I must say I have to believe what I heard as it is truly an unforgettable sight.

Promthep Cape lies on the most Southerly point of the island and the journey getting there is probably about 35 mins from Phuket Town. It is fairly easy to find as there are plenty of sign posts to show you the way. Just head towards Chalong, then on towards Rawai Beach and you should see the sign posts for Promthep cape.

If you were to make a day of it you could first go to Wat Chalong then onto Nai Harn Beach which is very close to Promthep Cape. Go and have a swim and a sun bathe at Nai Harn until about 430pm then make your way up the winding road before the sunsets at about 6pm here in Phuket.

Once you arrive you will straight away notice the mass amount of people there are there. Well if it is supposed to be the best sunset view in Phuket then it's bound to be popular. But don't let all the tourists discourage you or put you off because as soon as that sun sinks into the Andaman Sea it will all be worth it.

Once you have found a good spot and while you wait for the sun to slowly fall into the sea, you should be able to see Nai Harn Beach and The Royal Phuket Yacht Club to your right hand side. Just ahead should be a little island and slightly to the left of that is where the sun will lay rest for the night.

There is also an old lighthouse where you will get even more amazing views of the sunset, but it is likely to be very crowded so try to find your spot before the sun goes down. there is a little souvenir counter inside if you want to buy any gifts for friends or family. there is no fee to enter the lighthouse but there is a donation box if you want give a small donation.

All in all a visit to Promthep cape is very pleasing and I would recommend it to everyone who visits Phuket.
