Still living in Phuket

It has been over three years since I last wrote for this blog. For a long time I completely gave up on this blog due to the lack of time, but I have since decided that I try my best to start producing content again. Phuket provides so many topics to write about, so I think it will be a great way for me to jot things down for future reference.

After checking out the statistics, I was pleasantly surprised to see that these pages still get regular visits. Not many, but because of this I felt I might as well start writing again.

So what’s new with me? Well, now have a baby boy just over two years old so he manages to keep me occupied when I'm not working. But at the same time I am able to discover new parts of Phuket that I had not seen previously, mainly because I try to visit different types of places with a baby.

In addition to the baby, I also have a new camera so I hope to share a lot more photos over the coming months. But please be warned, I am merely an amateur photographer so please go easy on me when I post bad pictures. :-)

One great discovery I made recently was a place called Vinyl Café. If you enjoy listening to great UK / US House and Garage and are fed up with the dives of Bangla Road, then you will love this place. Its owned by a great guy who makes everyone feel welcome and the DJs play some of the best tunes on the island. It’s not open all the time, sometimes only a couple of times a month. But well worth it because the vibes are just awesome and there's always a good crowd.

To find Vinyl café you need to head down the Chaofa Road (East). If you’re coming from Chalong it’s on your left hand side as you get to the junction with the SCB bank on the corner and the local market on the right. There you’ll find Vinyl Café nestled in-between two hair salons.

I will soon be writing more blogs about things to do, where to eat and places to stay in Phuket. But in the meantime if you have any questions about Phuket, then please feel free to leave a comment below. I will do my best to answer them where possible.

How to get to Phuket?

I have now been asked by several people on the best way to fly to Phuket. Well to be totally honest I have only ever traveled to Phuket via Malaysia, so I will give you information on that from personal experiences as for flying from UK I will have to use information from friends and research.

Views over Kata & Karon Beach

There is one famous viewpoint that overlooks Kata and Karon Beach which is named Kata Viewpoint or Karon Viewpoint either way they are amazingly original names don't you think? Well just to inform those who are not familiar with these two beaches. Kata and Karon beach are situated on the Western coast of Phuket and are two of the few famous beaches here in Phuket.

Koh Khai Day Trip

Phuket has are lots of smaller islands scattered around its coast line of various sizes, some of which I plan to visit over the next year or so. The other day we went to one of the closest islands which is situated just off the South Eastern Coast called Koh Khai or Khai Island. Koh being the Thai word for island.

IndoChine Resort & Villas

This is my first post on resorts here in Phuket and it is also one the most exclusive resorts on the island. Those of you who know IndoChine for its bars and clubs will already know that the resort is spectacular.

Promthep Cape

On the wonderfully beautiful island of Phuket you can discover so many amazing view points, all with their own uniqueness to them. I have been told that the very best view point in Phuket to see the sunset is at Promthep Cape (or Laem Promthep). I must say I have to believe what I heard as it is truly an unforgettable sight.
